Auckland Kindergarten Association

The Auckland Kindergarten Association (AKA) provides a range of quality early childhood education (ECE) services across the greater Auckland region – with over 100 kindergartens, 4 KiNZ daycare centres and playgroups.

We value the importance of children’s play in developing meaningful learning experiences.  Teachers work alongside children to enhance teachable moments.  They model language, and introduce mathematical concepts, science, literacy and sustainable practices to children.  Our teachers are qualified and registered and teaching practice reflects current theories of learning and development.

Our centres have outdoor spaces where children can create, learn and explore, in a natural garden environment.

AKA Kindergartens are licensed for children from 2 years of age.  Most kindergartens offer full day sessions (either 6 or 6.5 hours).  In some kindergartens a shorter 3 or 4 hour session is offered.

KiNZ daycare centres offer all day education and care for children from 3 months of age.  Hours are from 7.30am to 5.30pm, Monday to Friday.

Playgroups provide supportive environments for children and parents to learn together.  Sessions run for 3 hours on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday mornings.  Playgroups are free.
